A very nice homage to *Natsuki-3's painting. The resemblance is unmistakable, but you've gone a completely different route with the feeling it invokes, with both her expression and the colder blue hues. The colours on her right cheek in particular lend it an almost frozen look.
Her hair is probably my favourite part--the delicate glow to it is lovely--and the freckles are a nice touch. The impact is quite strong, and her eyes are compelling. The brightness of the butterfly by her shoulder does compete with them for attention; toning it down just a bit might give the image a bit more 'oomph'.
Fairly minor nitpicks: her shoulder seems a bit small, and the bodies of the butterflies have a very 3-D render look about them upon closer inspection. The one by her face isn't too jarring, but the one down in front could definitely do with some legs and such (or you could even play it up and go the clockwork route with them--it might add an interesting depth and reason to her sadness).
All in all, well done. It's brimming with emotion but executed in a very soft, delicate way.
Wow. So I think this is the first critique that I've given a 5 stars all the way through amazingly. This piece really just captured my heart. It speaks so many brilliant, strong emotions outward into beautiful art. I personally love all the butterflies, their position and everything about this whole image. I think you made brilliant use of light, vibrancy and hues. Congratulations! The glows within the image are right on spot. Her luscious glossy lips look like she's been swallowing all her tears. Her glance/stare is really captivating and mesmerizing making you feel the emotion with her. Amazing, amazing job. One of your most eye-catching pieces!
